Lizard #1
December 2009

My first maille lizard delves a bit further into the realm of non-traditional maille materials than some of my previous sculptures. This piece has been constructed of various sizes of flat washers, several sizes of lock washers, parts from a chainsaw chain, hex-nuts, parts from bicycle chains, and a couple sizes of regular old round wire maille links. All of the hardware parts which were once galvnized (such as nuts, washers, lock washers, etc.) have been etched to remove the zinc coating so a more interesting patina will eventually develop. I hope to someday lengthen the tail a bit, but that will have to wait until I can find a cheaper source for washers.
