Chainmail Corset
made from scavenged materials

I made this chainmail-like corset out of stainless steel jump rings and parts scavenged from taking apart a couple dozen bicycle chains. The overall shape is inspired by dress bodices from Europe during the Renaissance. The bust area is lined with soft leather for added comfort. The mesh that I created this with is based on the "Japanese 4 in 1" chainmail weave, but the plates from the roller chain replace the flat-laying links in the weave - using plates interwoven with the mail was also quite common in many Asian armors, but that's another story... Tailoring in the garment was achieved by using angled sides on sides of some panels, and using slightly larger plates in areas that needed expansion within a section.
